Our Story
A small room with a big flame.
Fire Bowl is a family-run Japanese kitchen on Frederica Street. We cook hibachi, sushi and ramen the way we’d want to eat it — fresh, generous and made by hand.
火鉢 · Hibachi
It means fire bowl.
The word hibachi is written with two characters: fire, and bowl. That’s the whole idea. A bowl of heat, a chef who knows what to do with it, and a table of people waiting to eat.
Our chefs have been cooking over that fire for more than ten years. Between the owners, there are thirty more years of restaurant experience — and every bit of it is on the plate. We buy Certified Angus Beef® NY strips for our steaks, source seafood from vendors we trust, and cook with fresh produce only.
Every sauce, every dressing, every pot of broth is made in our own kitchen. It’s more work. It’s also why our yum yum sauce tastes like ours and nobody else’s.
